Liz and Kate have a unique relationship. Not only are they twins, but they collaborate together on their distinctive works of art. Living only five minutes apart and working from their shared studio in Liz’s house, ‘The Pope Twins’ create their delightful collage-style pieces.
Kate and Liz both attended Staffordshire University, where they each studied surface pattern design. It soon became apparent that Kate enjoyed colour, collage and pattern, while Liz’s preference was for illustration using simple and naive line drawing with pencil and paper. This makes them a perfect foil for each other and gives their work its distinctive flavour. Liz will often sketch out the design, which Kate will then populate with bold and patchwork-like colours.
